Culinary Arts and Hospitality
YouthBuild Providence now offers Culinary Arts and Hospitality training. Participants learn valuable customer service, food preparation and event management skills through hands instruction working during regular meal services, and helping to plan, coordinate, and execute events of various sizes in a restaurant/banquet facility. Program graduates will leave with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers as servers, bartenders, line cooks, and hosts.
Through our culinary arts partners, students can participate in internship opportunities and attend college classes at a local university. They also have the opportunity to work at local restaurants, hotels, and catering companies.
Participants in our culinary arts program will:
- Gain hands-on experience, preparing them for careers in the culinary arts and hospitality workforce;
- Earn industry-recognized certificates: OSHA-10, ServSafe Worker, ServSafe Manager, Line Cook, and Rhode Island TIPS Alcohol Training & Certification (18 and older)
- Participate in college-level courses;
- Have internship opportunities, with the possibility of employment after graduation.
