‘Tis the Season

The Brothers of YouthBuild Providence, an extra-curricular group of young men who support each other as they transition into adulthood, just completed their holiday fundraiser event.
The group decided to sell Candy Cane Grams to students and staff members in order to raise funds for a family in need this holiday season. They were able to raise a total of $116 dollars in three short days from their peers and staff. The funds will be donated to a family who recently lost their home due to a fire. Believing that every bit helps – the group of young men are eager to make the donation and move on to their next project.
When asked about the fundraiser, one of the members replied “It is easy to get caught up in our own personal issues and situations during this time of year, however this group of young men decided to step above themselves and reach out into the community to give back.”
The group is hopeful to partner with the YBP Girl Rock group in their next community project.

Today begins an 8 week fundraising competition with the help of the Huffington Post and Crowdrise. We are looking to raise $5000 to help support our 2nd Annual Build-A-Bed event. Last year we made 50 beds for low-income children in Providence. This year we are hoping to double that number. For more info about the event or to donate click on the link below. Let’s help some children get a good night sleep!
New Diploma Option

YouthBuild Providence and The Providence Public School Department announced a partnership that will be the first of its kind in the city of Providence. High school students who are at risk of dropping out will now have the opportunity to earn their high school diploma at YouthBuild Providence. This is an incredible opportunity for young people to embark with us on the first multiple pathways educational initiative in the City of Providence.
We are pleased to have the support of Mayor Angel Tavares, Superintendent
of Providence Public Schools Dr. Sue Lusi, and Charlotte Golar Riches the Senior Vice President Public Policy, Advocacy, and Government Relations, YouthBuild USA.
We believe YouthBuild’s partnership with the Providence Public School system will help the dropout rates and will do everything in our power to make sure students are successful in everything they do.
