YouthBuild

As you know, the General Assembly passed legislation in 2016 enabling the opening of the YouthBuild Preparatory Academy (“YouthBuild Prep”).  We are extraordinarily grateful for this opportunity, and write to inform you that we anticipate opening YouthBuild Prep in Fall 2018.

Over the past year, we have worked hard to build YouthBuild Prep from the ground up. We have successfully incorporated as a non-profit corporation, obtained federal 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, secured grant monies, transitioned assets, and expanded our Board of Trustees beyond its founding members.  We have also regularly met with representatives from Providence and Central Falls school districts, as well as RIDE, to communicate our educational model and establish collaborative relationships.

Several milestones remain, however, before YouthBuild Prep is ready to open.  We are presently focused on finalizing agreements with the Providence and Central Falls school districts and securing a new, improved school facility for a growing student body.

As a community focused school, your support is essential to YouthBuild Prep and we will continue to update you as we meet these milestones. Should you have any questions, or if you wish to contribute in any manner, we encourage you to reach out to either of us.

Students may of course continue to attend the YouthBuild Providence program in the 2017-18 school year to the extent that capacity will allow.
